The Day I got my Period Back
#throwbackthursday to day 4 years ago that marked 3 milestones!
1. My first backpacking trip๐
2. Where my now husband would propose ๐
3. The day I got my period back๐
โฌ๏ธ
This entire day was memorable, let me tell you! That day I found myself with an over loaded day pack, stuffed with gear I scrambled together and borrowed. On top of a trail that was sure a grunt, from route finding and bushwhacking, we ended at a gorgeous High Alpine Lake in the Olympics that was completely worth each moment!
Upon arrival at the lake- strip the pack, man it felt amazing to peel that overloaded pack off my back! โฌ
I stepped out to go to the bathroom and, hello! My period! ๐ณ Gah!!! I had been without a period in nearly 10 years, due to my hypothalamic amenorrhea. .
As quickly as I exploded with joy, my heart sunk with worry. Here I am, tucked away in the gorgeous back country, with no tampons, (and certainly wasn't carrying a period cup ๐คฃ). Luckily, my now sister in law had my back here and had happened to have an emergency bag with a tampon or 2๐
.
As we settled in, I turned around to Chris kneeled down, I in normal awkward fashion laughed and said what are you doing.๐คฃ๐ Ok, from there. It's all history right.
What are the chances all of this would happen in the same day? Lol ๐ in fact, I look back today and realize how perfect it indeed was! .
It's a pretty cool day to reflect on
and to celebrate! We've been through a ton in the last 4 years preceding this day. More often than I feel most young couples should endure however, the part about that, I find beautiful is the ability to be resilient. As much as it is important to nourish ourselves with food, nourishing our relationships, are just as important. It's a daily process of ebb and flow. .
Today, I'm celebrating my now love for backpacking, my husband, my period and
hypothalamic amenorrhea recovery!
As always my gift of resiliency. .
What are you celebrating today?
